We gathered in Fairhaven at the Village Green.
We were so blessed to have Ms. Reilly and the Squalicum High School Band (and many alumni) perform at the Fairhaven Village Green.
We had two check in booths--one for the teams and one for our volunteers. Teams were given blue race shirts and volunteers were given black Thrivent shirts with hearts on them.
It was incredible to have some of Kyle's friends be a part of this event! Some were in the band, some were in the race and the band, and some stopped by to say Hi.
The teams lined up and Clue #1 was handed out. Konrad blew the horn and the race was off!!

"BE THE CHANGE
FOR KYLE"
MEMORIAL RACE 2023

Celebrating Kyle's life on what would have been his 28th birthday. July 2021
ABOUT
MAY 4, 2023
Kyle would have been 30 years old in July of this year. We wanted to do something special to celebrate him and keep his memory alive. Back in 2021, we created a memorial fund at Skookum Kids (a foster care nonprofit) in Kyle’s honor, because he wanted to be a foster dad. Kyle wanted to make a difference and to change lives. So together with those of you who join us, we are helping him do that!
This year, we’ve organized a memorial event to help Kyle’s vision of “BE THE CHANGE” become a reality. This family fun race has some "RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS" mixed in to set an example to
"BE THE CHANGE" we all want to see in this world. We’re proud to partner with WFCN to present this fun event!
Help us raise funds for WFCN, Skookum Kids and the Squalicum High School Band. We’re helping our local youth by changing lives one at a time! We think Kyle will be proud!

"Whatcom Family & Community Network (WFCN) is proud to be the fiscal sponsor of a new, fun and adventurous fundraiser that will support youth substance use prevention, youth mental wellbeing, and foster youth.
All proceeds will benefit WFCN, Skookum Kids and the Squalicum Band Program. Funds donated to WFCN will support the organization's ability to provide infrastructure stability beneath our community and direct services, like Whatcom Prevention Coalition, Mount Baker Community Coalition and the MAD HOPE Youth Suicide Prevention Program.
Our work aims to uplift the wellbeing of children, teens and families, to prevent youth substance use and suicide and increase resilience and hope for our community's youth and families."
